Aasim Sajjad was born in Lahore, Pakistan, and spent his early years in Kamoke, a town in Punjab’s Gujranwala district, where he grew up in a large, close-knit family. After completing high school in Kamoke, he moved to Lahore for further education, graduating with a business degree. In 1994, Aasim immigrated to the United States with his family, settling in San Luis Obispo, California, through the sponsorship of his uncle. Starting with no prior work experience, Aasim quickly adapted to his new life, taking on multiple jobs to support his family.

Through perseverance and dedication, Aasim steadily advanced his career in the restaurant industry. He started as a maintenance worker and rose to become a store manager, district manager, and eventually a restaurant auditor responsible for overseeing 126 locations across California and Oregon.

In 2008, he and his family opened Shalimar, their own restaurant in San Luis Obispo, a dream made possible through hard work and community support. By 2010, Aasim left his corporate job to focus full-time on the family business, which has become a staple in the community.
