As the cost of living rises across California and the nation, food insecurity is increasing dramatically in San Luis Obispo County, with the SLO Food Bank seeing a 16% jump in demand over the past year. To help address this growing need, the food bank has launched a matching campaign for Hunger Action Month in September, aiming to double one-time donations up to $40,000 and quadruple new recurring donations up to $500,000. The campaign comes amid not only rising demand for food assistance, but also an increased need for volunteers to help distribute food across the county.
