Free Meals and Groceries for Families
Here in San Luis Obispo County, there are free food resources to help families feed kids and teens all summer long. Below, you’ll find information on free summer meals offered by local school districts, SUN Bucks summer grocery benefits, and how to find food distributions and pantries near you.
SUMMER MEALS
Free Summer Meals from Local Schools
Many school districts across SLO County offer free breakfast and lunch to all children and teens 18 and under during the summer months—no paperwork or registration required! Meals must be eaten on-site. Sites closed June 19th and July 4th (unless otherwise noted).
Please Note: The SLO Food Bank does not run these summer meal programs. For the most up-to-date information about locations, dates, and times, please contact your child’s school or local school district directly.

SUN Bucks: Summer Grocery Benefits
Get $120 Per Child for Groceries this Summer!
SUN Bucks (also called Summer EBT) is a new program that helps families with school-aged children buy groceries when school is out. Each eligible child will receive $120 in money on an EBT card that you can spend at grocery stores, farmers markets, and other retailers that accept CalFresh.
AUTOMATIC QUALIFICATIONS
If you already get CalFresh, CalWORKS, or Medi-Cal, you qualify automatically! You’ll get your card in the mail—no application needed.
NOT ENROLLED?
To check if your child is eligible, ask your child’s school for a school meal application or Universal Benefits Application. Complete the form and return it to the school by August 31, 2026.

If you need additional groceries or support for your family, the SLO Food Bank and our Hunger Relief Network offer free food distributions, meals, and public pantries throughout the county all year long. These resources are available to anyone in need, and you can find them in every community.
